Arrow Media has quickly grown from an indie start-up to a creative powerhouse.
Arrow Media’s portfolio now includes many hundreds of hours of programming across science, crime, adventure, nature, documentary and history, for the UK, US and international markets, across all platforms and formats. The company has had huge success as an organisation in a very short space of time, including growing its turnover from £8m to over £20m in just four years.
The owners of the newly formed company were very experienced, and their team at Arrow Media wanted to put in place a solution that would be futureproofed for scalability. They knew they were going to grow fast from the word go.
The solution had to be one that allowed them to not only run their core financials, but also allow the capture of their key production accounting data.
Creative implemented Dynamics NAV (now Business Central) and used the projects and Dimensions in NAV to drive the production accounting necessary for Arrow.
Creative had done something similar for another big TV company, and this knowledge and experience was well used to design the core system. Projects provided a structure that really allowed production accounting to a schedule expense level, as much as you can do in a finance system, without an actual cost manager.
A system that has stood the test of time for Arrow and continues to deliver against the finance and production needs. A lot of the success has been down to Phil Cooper at Arrow who took ownership of the system and is always significantly testing every function and process. This is imperative when you go through versions of software over such a long period. His feedback and knowledge is so helpful for both us at Creative and Arrow themselves.
The system has allowed Arrow to account on hundreds of productions since implementation and provided a core set of finance and production data that was necessary for the purchase by Fremantle.
